Old Cajun Proverb

You've made your own bed, now don't lie about it.509 BC: Sextus Tarquinius, the son of Roman king Tarquinius Superbus, is overcome with lust for Lucretia, the wife of a Roman nobleman. She killed herself following the rape, and her kinsmen drove out the royal family, establishing the Roman Republic. The story is described by Ovid and Livy, as well as in Shakespeare's poem 'The Rape of Lucrece'. Engraved by P. Tanje. (Photo by Hulton Archive/Getty Images)
